Hospital Ministry
What's the point of hospital visitations from the visitor's point of view?
The importance requires just a slight change of perspective
What we do
Illness and hospitalization can be a challenging and traumatic experience, especially when faced without any resources or support. Thanks to the hospital ministry of Laminin Foundation, adults and children in hospitals have access to compassionate friends who can comfort and encourage them, their family members, and their caregivers, as they undertake their journey through illness.
Laminin Hospital Ministry touches the lives of vulnerable adults and children in hospitals and gives them hope through spiritual care, encouragement, and physical support, while also empowering individuals through education on the principles of health and related choices so that they can regain their human dignity.

Caring for the volunteers
Let's care for ourselves as we care for others
Volunteers
Volunteers in this ministry conduct periodic hospital visits, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly during visiting hours at Five (5) main hospitals:
• Port of Spain General Hospital
• Mt. Hope (EWMSC)
• San Fernando Hospital
• Sangre Grande Hospital
• Scarborough General Hospital
The total visit usually lasts for one hour with teams of volunteers divided to spend approximately 10 minutes with each patient. A regular bedside visit would include an introduction to the team and building of rapport, a song/hymn (patient’s choice), a scripture of encouragement, and a prayer for the patient. These visits may also include the distribution of donated items such as clothing, toiletries, toys and medical equipment to patients in need.
